May 15th

Athens, Ga

Distance: 6 miles

Today was a lazy kind of day. I woke up, went to church, read, took a nap, and ran. After I woke up from my nap it took me a while to get going but it didn’t really matter because I had all the time in the world. On my run I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go fast or slow, but that didn’t really matter either. Once I started picking up the pace I actually slowed myself down a little bit. My mind wasn’t quite ready for a quick paced jog. I soaked in my surroundings as I ran through campus. The weather was pleasant (about 71) and the wind wasn’t too much. I enjoyed my Sunday jog just as much as an old person probably enjoys his or her Sunday drive.

May 16th

Athens, Ga

Distance: 8 miles

Today was my last day of soccer enrichment classes at Athens Academy, which means that it was probably the last day that I would be able to run there. I checked the weather frequently this morning in hopes that it wasn’t going to rain too hard on my journey. About 45 minutes before I needed to leave, I checked and there was a break in the weather. I really like this run partially because it’s not an easy one. There are a lot of hills and I have to run in tall grass for the majority of it. The run there was nothing special, but the run back was glorious. It rained and the smell of the plants and asphalt when it first starts raining is great. I don’t really know how to describe it but it reminds me of summer afternoon showers. When I got back from the run I was exhausted. A feeling that I don’t think I will ever get tired of.
