Ann's Longest Run

Location: St. Simons Island, Ga
Distance: 7.35 miles
Temperature: 70 degrees

I didn't run yesterday, so of course today I was craving a run. I thought about a long run in church today and I was determined to make it happen, rain or shine. After church, I spent some time trying to convince Anna to come with me. I told her that I had a route in mind that would be around 7 miles. She was very hesitant and kept telling me that she wouldn't be able to run that far. I continued to tell her that she could definitely do it if we slowed our pace; she finally gave in. It started sprinkling a little and the weather forecast didn't look too great, but I was determined, remember? I enjoy running in the rain... it means less people out and it's refreshing. The first couple of miles are always the toughest for me on long runs. I kept telling Anna that once she reached mile 3, it would be smooth sailing. I don't think she believed me, but I continued to do my best to be an encourager. It was so great to see her attitude change as the run progressed. She gained confidence and I could tell that she was actually enjoying herself. This is coming from a girl who hated running less than a year ago and I couldn't pay to run with me. Now she is dominating and I love it. The entire run was worth seeing the smile on her face as we finished. Encouraging others can be just as rewarding as receiving the encouragement.
